Fish Stocking | Permitted Species

Fish stocking regulations vary across Australia and are designed to protect local ecosystems and improve the long-term success of stocked fish.

Because of this, not all fish species are permitted for stocking in every region. Supplying or stocking non-approved species can be unlawful, with significant penalties applying to both the supplier and the landholder.

If you’re unsure which species are permitted for your dam, we recommend checking with us before purchasing. We’re happy to provide guidance and help you select fish that are suitable and compliant for your location.
